Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for an Honours degree in agriculture and animal sciences
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Applicants are female and have an unconditional offer of admission or are currently enrolled full-time in an Honours degree in agriculture and animal sciences within the Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney.
  • Applicants must be domestic or international female students.
  • Applicants must have an unconditional offer of admission or be enrolled full-time in an Honours degree in the eligible fields.

To qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Science (Honours), applicants must:

  • have qualified or be a graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent from the University of Sydney or equivalent qualification from another tertiary institution;
  • have completed a relevant major (i.e., minimum of 24 credit points of 3000-level units of study) relating to the intended Honours discipline;
  • Have achieved a Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of at least 65.00 or have a credit average (65.00) in 48 credit points of relevant* 2000-level and 3000-level units of study; and
  • Satisfy any additional criteria set by the relevant Head of School or Discipline.
  • This degree program requires the completion of a major cognate to the Honours area they want to apply for.
  • The university’s coursework rule requires Bachelor of Science (Honours) students to complete their Honours program within ten years of the commencement of their original qualifying Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent). As such, if their original Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) was commenced over ten years ago or close to 10 years ago, they may be ineligible for admission.
  • Applicants whose original Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) was commenced more than ten years ago or close to 10 years ago are strongly recommended to seek advice from the Admissions Office before applying for a Bachelor of Science (Honours).

  • How to Apply: Incoming domestic or international students must follow these given steps to apply for an honour degree at the University of Sydney:
  • Show a strong academic record: Students need a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65 to 70 percent.
  • Prepare a research topic proposal: Students will need to choose a topic that the chosen faculty considers academic importance to study for the entire year.
  • Find a supervisor: This person is their mentoring academic for their honors project. Contact the honors coordinator in their chosen faculty.
  • Fill in the application: Search for their course?page. The course page will provide students with a link to the online application form so that they can lodge their application.
  • Supporting Documents: As part of the application, the applicants must submit the required documents. Such as certified copies of academic transcripts and award certificates to help to demonstrate their English language proficiency.
  • Admission Requirements: Students will need to prepare a research topic proposal that they chose faculty considers of academic importance to study for the entire year.
  • Language Requirement: Where applicable, applicants must demonstrate that they meet the? English language requirements.
