The Open University’s Care Experienced Scholarship, in conjunction with The John Lewis Partnership launched six further undergraduate scholarships to care-experienced young people aged 25 and under.

The scholarship program covers OU undergraduate credit-bearing qualifications, paying for the full tuition cost of your qualification, up to 120 credits each seasonal academic year and 360 credits in total.The Open University is a unique academic institution that operates outside the traditional formal education system, offering higher education opportunities to a diverse range of learners. Established as a non-formal system of education, Open Universities like the one in India cater to the needs of individuals who may not meet the typical entry requirements of formal universities. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: UK residents
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any subject offered by The Open University
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be aged 25 or under as of September 1, 2024
  • Be commencing Open University study for the first time in the 2024/25 academic year
  • Be ordinarily resident in the UK and eligible for UK fees
  • Hold no existing higher education qualifications
  • Demonstrate proof of experience of being in care
  • Have a gross personal income of not more than £25,000 per year or receive a qualifying benefit
  • Be studying a module as part of an undergraduate qualification in the academic year 2024/25.
  • Be studying a minimum of 30 credits per year.

The Care Experienced Scholarship covers full tuition costs for undergraduate credit-bearing qualifications, up to 120 credits each seasonal academic year and 360 credits in total.

Application Process

Interested candidates should download the full scholarship terms and conditions along with the application form from the official website. Completed applications, along with supporting evidence, should be emailed to the Student Fees team. The application deadline is midday on July 24, 2024. Successful applicants will be notified by August 9, 2024.
