In 2025, the bursary awards will be distributed based on the following:
- In health care or social services: 4 new students will receive up to $5,000 based on their program of study.
- In nursing: a maximum of 6 new students will be awarded between $2,500 and $5,000 based on their program of study.
- In medicine: a maximum of 4 new students will be awarded either $5,000 for students in medical school or $7,500 to students in a medical residency program.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants are eligible to apply for the funding if they are:
- accepted, enrolled or registered in a post-secondary education program in Canada that would award a diploma, degree or certificate in any of the following areas:
- Social work;
- Nursing;
- Medicine; or
- Other health care or social services professions that are a priority for the Yukon;
- A resident of the Yukon for at least 2 consecutive years in the past 5 years before they apply for the bursary;
- A Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
- Not eligible to apply for student financial assistance from another province, territory or country outside of the Yukon; and
- Willing to sign a declaration of Commitment to Yukon Service.
