The Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the Young CAS Grant, a prestigious fellowship designed to support young researchers in the development of ambitious, curiosity-driven projects.

The Young CAS Grant aims to support young researchers in advancing their academic careers by enabling project development and network building through residential fellowships. This initiative is a collaboration between the Centre for Advanced Study (CAS), the Young Academy of Norway (AYF), and the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (DNVA). The program encourages curiosity-driven projects that push boundaries, challenge established ideas, and expand the research frontiers in diverse academic fields.The Centre for Advanced Study (CAS) is an independent research institution in Oslo, Norway, dedicated to fostering high-level, interdisciplinary research across the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Established in 1989, CAS provides a collaborative environment where international scholars work on innovative projects free from standard academic duties.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to researchers from all countries.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The fellowship is open to all disciplines; however, projects should be primarily theoretical as laboratory-based research cannot be conducted at CAS. Projects involving laboratory work, fieldwork, or data collection may be eligible if they contribute to theoretical research development.
  • Admissible Criteria:
    • Hold a PhD and be under 40 years old at the application deadline (extensions granted).
    • Maintain a full-time academic position at one of the CAS partner institutions for the fellowship period; temporary positions are eligible.
    • Affiliation may change between partner institutions during the grant period.
