To provide a funding source to international students undertaking their higher studies in Australia, Xiamen University has organized the Online Chinese Scholarships for the academic year 2025-2026.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good health and under 30 years old as of September 1, 2025. They must hold a senior high school diploma with good academic performance and be recommended by a Confucius Institute co-built by XMU or one of its partner universities.

Xiamen University Online Chinese Scholarships for Bachelor Established in 1921, Xiamen University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Xiamen (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Fujian. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Education of The People's Republic of China, Xiamen University (XMU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 35,000-39,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Xiamen University (XMU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all non-Chinese citizens

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in the undergraduate program of Chinese Language (050102) offered by XMU

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:

    • Be a non-Chinese citizen in good mental and physical health with a valid passport

    • Hold a senior high school diploma with strong academic performance

    • Be currently studying at or recommended by a Confucius Institute co-built by XMU or its partner university, with priority given to candidates from disadvantaged backgrounds

    • Be under 30 years of age as of September 1, 2025

    • Not currently receiving any other scholarship.

Offered Benefits

  • Duration: 4 years (subject to annual assessment for renewal)

  • Coverage:

    • Tuition fees

    • Insurance premiums

    • On-campus accommodation

    • Monthly living expenses (remaining balance after fixed costs)

  • Additional Information:

    • Students must maintain a minimum attendance rate of 70% to receive monthly living expenses

    • Annual scholarship renewal is based on academic performance and conduct
