The Government of Western Australia proudly announces the 2025 Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship a prestigious opportunity for outstanding international students commencing postgraduate research studies. This scholarship offers a one-off $50,000 award to assist with course fees and university costs.

Applicants must hold an offer for full-time onshore enrolment in a postgraduate research program starting in Semester 2, 2025, meet international student visa requirements, and be citizens of eligible countries.

Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship, Australia for Master Founded in 1991, Edith Cowan University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Joondalup (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Western Australia. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Mt Lawley and Bunbury. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Training, Australia, Edith Cowan University (ECU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Edith Cowan University (ECU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brazil, China, Colombia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Nepal, The Philippines, Oman, Republic of Korea (South Korea), Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, The United Arab Emirates, The United Kingdom, Vietnam.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the university at the postgraduate research level.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Have received an offer for a new full-time onshore enrolment in a postgraduate research course (minimum two years) commencing in Semester 2, 2025.

    • Be eligible for and obtain an international student visa and arrive in Western Australia to commence studies onshore.

    • Be enrolling directly into a postgraduate research course (not via packaged/foundation/English language programs).

    • Agree to decline any other university, state, or Commonwealth scholarships upon receipt of the WA Premier’s University Scholarship.

    • Apply as an international fee-paying student.

    • Be a citizen of one of the listed eligible countries.

Offered Benefits

  • A one-off payment of $50,000 to support course fees and university-related expenses.

  • Upon successful completion of the initial phase of study under the scholarship, recipients will receive a 100% tuition fee scholarship from Edith Cowan University for the remainder of their research program.

Application Process

Application is made via the  ECU Online Scholarship Application Portal. Access to the portal is available between application opening and closing dates. Applications must be completed and submitted online before the closing date.
