WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business) invites students to apply for Merit-based Scholarships recognizing outstanding academic performance. Applications are open from October 6–17, 2025 via Online Student Services (OSS). Eligible students must be enrolled in a regular WU program, meet the required ECTS and GPA standards, and hold Austrian, EEA, or Swiss citizenship.

To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled in a regular WU degree program, demonstrate outstanding academic performance during the 2024/25 academic year, and meet the minimum required ECTS credits and GPA set for their program. Only courses with numerical grades are considered, and applicants must complete their studies within the prescribed duration plus one additional semester, unless an extension is granted for reasonable cause.

Vienna University of Economics and Business Merit-based Scholarships, Austria Founded in 1898, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (Vienna University of Economics and Business) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Vienna (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants). Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft and Forschung, Österreich (Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research, Austria), Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Austria, EEA countries, and Switzerland

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Scholarships are awarded for any regular degree program offered by WU (Bachelor’s, Master’s, Doctoral, PhD).

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following:

    • Enrollment in a regular WU degree program

    • Outstanding academic performance during the 2024/25 academic year (October 1, 2024 – September 30, 2025)

    • Meet the minimum ECTS and GPA requirements depending on the program:

      • Bachelor’s: 52 ECTS, GPA 1.3–1.7 (depending on program)

      • Master’s: 52–60 ECTS, GPA 1.0

      • Doctoral/PhD: 18–24 ECTS, GPA 1.0

    • Credits must appear as numerical grades (pass/fail grades not included).

    • Compliance with the entitlement period (standard study duration + 1 semester). Extensions possible for reasonable cause.

    • Citizenship or equivalent status as defined under the Austrian Student Support Act (§ 4).

Offered Benefits

Recipients will receive a merit-based scholarship award of at least €750 as a one-time payment. These scholarships provide recognition for outstanding academic achievement, encouraging students to maintain high performance during their studies. Please note that funding is limited, and there is no legal entitlement to the award.

Application Process

  • Apply online via Online Student Services (OSS) during the application period:

    • Monday, October 6, 2025 (9:00 am) to Friday, October 17, 2025 (12:00 noon).

  • Applications are only valid once you receive a confirmation email at your official WU student email address.

  • Non-Austrian citizens must submit documents proving Austrian citizen status (§ 4 Student Support Act).

  • Students in individual study programs must submit transcripts and official credit transfer notifications.

  • Supporting documents for entitlement extensions must also be submitted within the application period.

  • Results will be communicated by email.
