Vice Chancellor’s Excellence Scholarships for Malaysia Students, New Zealand Established in 1964, University of Waikato is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Hamilton (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Waikato. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Tauranga. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, New Zealand, University of Waikato (UoW) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Waikato (UoW) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 55 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades.   • Eligible Course or Subjects:  Students can apply for an undergraduate, postgraduate, or research study in any desired subject offered at the University of Waikato. 
  • Eligibility Criteria:  To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • The applicants must be international students from Malaysia enrolling for the first time into undergraduate or postgraduate programmes at the University of Waikato. 
  • The applicants must have received a conditional or unconditional offer of place from the University of Waikato. 
  • The applicants must a minimum GPA-equivalency of B+ in the qualification used to gain entrance to the University of Waikato. 

Offered Benefits

The University of Waikato will award the selected candidates a scholarship worth NZD$15,000 towards the tuition fee of the undertaken degree programme. 

Application Process

  • How to Apply:  Students can sign up on the  university portal  and submit their admission applications. All eligible candidates will be considered automatically. 
  • Supporting Documents:  The students will be asked to provide academic transcripts, reference letters, personal essays, research proposal, etc. 
  • Admission Requirements:  The applicants must meet the entry and academic requirements of the course they want to join at the University of Waikato. 
  • Language Requirement:  The students must meet the  English language requirements  of the university. TOEFL, IELTS, PTE, and many more tests are accepted at the University of Waikato.
