Uppsala University Scholarships for International Students are now open for applications and designed to support international students wishing to study at Uppsala University, Sweden. There are several scholarships available for international students each year who are applying for a bachelor’s or master’s degree programme.

The scholarships are awarded to programmes that are on-campus based in Uppsala or on Gotland, and for programmes mainly taught at Uppsala University. Scholarships are open for all citizens of a country outside of the European Union (EU)/European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland.

Applicants may be offered scholarships in all the courses at Uppsala University except Master’s programmes in Religion in Peace and conflict, Biology Genetic and Molecular Plant Science, Biology NABiS Nordic Master in Biodiversity and Systematics, sino-Swedish Master in Computer Science – Software Engineering, or the Joint Nordic Master’s Programme in Environmental law.

Uppsala University International Scholarships, Sweden for Master Established in 1477, Uppsala Universitet (Uppsala University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Uppsala (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Uppsala County. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Utbildningsdepartementet, Sverige (Ministry of Education and Research, Sweden), Uppsala Universitet (UU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Uppsala Universitet (UU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 542 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Swedish higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must ensure that they meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants must be from a non European Union or European Economic Area country.
  • Applicants must have obtained relevant bachelor’s degree in recognized university across the globe.
  • Applicant must show great academic and leadership abilities.
  • Applicants must be regarded as fee-paying international students before they can be awarded the scholarship.

Please do not apply for the scholarship if you:

  • do not meet the entry requirements for admission to Uppsala University;
  • have not selected a programme at Uppsala University as your first choice in your application at universityadmissions.se;
  • will not be able to secure the funding needed to cover your cost of living, as required by the Swedish Migration Agency, even if you are awarded a scholarship that covers the cost of tuition. See the information about the cost of living for students in Sweden.

To be considered for these scholarships, applicant must first submit an application for a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at Uppsala University on www.universityadmissions.se before the application deadline.

The programme at Uppsala University must be ranked as your first priority choice.
