The University of Waterloo is offering the Master of Data Science Entrance Awards to support talented students for the 2025/2026 academic year.
The study program is open to both domestic (Canadian/Permanent resident) and international students who are beginning their first term in the research-based Master’s program in Data Science at the University of Waterloo. Eligible candidates must demonstrate academic excellence with a minimum cumulative average of 80% or equivalent, and show strong research ability or potential as evidenced in their admission application.

Successful applicants will receive an award of at least $1,000, supporting their studies during the initial term of the program and encouraging academic excellence and research-driven education in the field of Data Science.
Application Process
In order to apply for this funding program, applicants must take admission in a graduate degree at the university. There is no separate application required for this award. All eligible candidates are automatically considered based on their application to the Master’s program. Selection is carried out by the Data Science Graduate Program Director(s) and the Awards subcommittee, typically during the winter/spring term for fall admits.
