The University of Warwick is inviting applicants to apply for Doctoral Access Scholarships (Pathway) for the academic session 2026/2027, supporting exceptional PhD applicants who self-identify as Black or of Black heritage. The scholarship is open to candidates from any discipline at Warwick.

To be eligible, applicants must apply for a PhD program at the University of Warwick starting in October 2026 and self-identify as being Black or of Black heritage. Candidates from any discipline and with either Home or Overseas fee status are welcome to apply.

University of Warwick Doctoral Access Scholarships in UK for PhD Founded in 1965, The University of Warwick is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the small city of Coventry (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), West Midlands. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, The University of Warwick is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. The University of Warwick offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 54 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to applicants with Home or Overseas fee status.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any subject offered by the University of Warwick.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Apply for a PhD program at the University of Warwick starting in October 2026.

  • Self-identify as being Black or of Black heritage.

  • Be applying for any discipline at Warwick.

  • Scholarships cannot be deferred to the next academic year.

Offered Benefits

Successful applicants will receive:

  • Full payment of tuition fees.

  • Maintenance stipend paid at the prevailing UKRI rate for 3.5 years.

  • Research, Training and Supporting Grant (RTSG) of £5,000.

Application Process

  1. Read the  Applicant Guidance Notes and  PGR Ranking Criteria.
  2. Submit your course application and upload supporting documents.
  3. Receive an automated e-mail with a 7 digit applicant ID number. Please allow at least 48 hours for this to arrive.
  4. Register your ITS applicant account.
  5. Submit your scholarship application (link opening 15 October 2025) bythe application deadline. We regret being unable to accept late applications for any reason.
  6. Submit supporting documents by the supporting document deadline. We regret being unable to accept late supporting documents for any reason.
