Benefits of University of Waikato Undergraduate Scholarship
A total of $10,000 is available which may be offered to one recipient or split equally between a maximum of two recipients.
Requirements for University of Waikato Undergraduate Scholarship
- Be a returning Alumnus1 of the University of Waikato who has not studied at the University of Waikato in the past two calendar years.
- Have achieved at least a B in their last 120-points of study at the University of Waikato.
- Be 25 years or older.
- Be able to show engagement with the University since graduating as well as involvement in the wider community on a volunteer basis.
- Be intending to enrol in at least 60-points of study at the University of Waikato in the year following application.
- At the time of application be residing in New Zealand.
- Be willing and able to be part of university-led promotion on the importance of education.
Those not eligible to apply include:
- Current staff of the University of Waikato who are eligible for staff fees concessions.
- Previous recipients of the scholarship.
Selection Process
- Academic merit;
- Engagement with the university and wider community;
- Preference may be given to applicants with financial need.

Established in 1964, University of Waikato is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Hamilton (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Waikato. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Tauranga. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, New Zealand, University of Waikato (UoW) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Waikato (UoW) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 55 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades.
