Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: All nationalities.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Postgraduate Research programme in Multifunctional Rural Regions.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must have to meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Have an unconditional offer of admission or being currently enrolled to study full-time in a PhD within the School of Geosciences, Faculty of Science at the University of Sydney
  • Be willing to conduct research into the interaction of social, economic and environmental issues in coastal NSW and Queensland, with a particular focus on the impacts of recent expansion in high-value horticultural production
  • Hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or Master’s degree with a substantial research component in Human Geography, Environmental Studies, Agri-Food Studies or other cognate disciplinary areas
  • Be willing and able to be able to conduct field-based research in either the North Coast of NSW or coastal Queensland
  • Have applied for RTP. For applicants who do not have an unconditional offer of admission, they will be required to apply for RTP as part of the admission process.

Offered Benefits

The scholarship programme will provide a stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year) for up to 3.5 years, subject to satisfactory academic performance.

  • How to Apply: To be considered for the scholarships, applicants must have to take  admission in a Postgraduate Research degree at the University of Sydney. After receiving an unconditional offer of admission, candidates must submit an  online application form.
  • Supporting Documents: Must attach academic transcript, area of study and research proposal, curriculum vitae, and list of publications. Note: Please upload all your attachments as one pdf file. Do not upload documents in a high-resolution format so as to aid with minimizing file size.
  • Admission Requirements: For taking admission, students must have to check the  entry requirements of their chosen program.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific  English language requirements in order to be able to study at the university.
