University of Sydney Faculty of Engineering Research Scholarships for Middle East and North African Students in Australia Established in 1989, Western Sydney University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Penrith (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), New South Wales. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: International student from the Middle East and North African region (MENA).
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Postgraduate Research program within Faculty of Engineering
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Be a citizen of a country from the Middle East and North African region (MENA).
  • An unconditional offer of admission to study full-time in a PhD within the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney.
  • Hold an Honours degree (first class or second upper) or equivalent.
  • It is a condition of accepting the MENA scholarship that awardees withdraw applications for Research Training Program (RTP) funding, including any RTP Allowance, RTP Fees Offset (international only), RTP Stipend or RTP Scholarships.

Offered Benefits

This scholarship program will provide an annual stipend allowance equivalent to the University of Sydney Research Training Program (RTP) stipend rate (indexed on 1 January each year), and is maintained through satisfactory academic performance for up to three years with a possible six months extension.

Academic course fees and the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF) are also provided, subject to satisfactory academic performance for up to twelve research periods with a possible two research period extension.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: To be considered for this application, candidates need to take part in a  postgraduate research program at the University of Sydney. After that, they must complete the enquiry formfor this funding opportunity.
  • Supporting Documents: As part of the application, the applicants should include at least one of the following documents:
  • Letter from medical professional related to pregnancy,
  • A surrogacy agreement,
  • Birth certificate of the child,
  • Adoption documents, or
  • Documentation that substantiates the application.
  • Admission Requirements: Candidates should have an unconditional offer of admission for a full-time PhD or masters by research program with the intent to transfer to a PhD after satisfactory completion of the first progress review interview.
  • Language Requirement: All students whose first language is not English must also meet the University’s  English language requirements.
