The University of Sunderland is proud to offer the Sir Bob Murray Health Scholarship for the 2025/26 academic year. This scholarship supports five first-year undergraduate students enrolled in eligible psychology programs, with a one-time award of £1,000. Funded through a philanthropic donation, the scholarship aims to assist students from underrepresented backgrounds in higher education.

To be eligible, applicants must be classified as ‘Home’ students starting their first year of an eligible full-time undergraduate psychology course. They must also meet at least one widening participation criterion, such as having a household income of £47,500 or less, being the first in their family to attend university, or living in a low-participation neighbourhood (POLAR4 Quantiles 1 or 2).

University of Sunderland Sir Bob Murray Health Scholarships in UK for Bachelor Established in 1992, University of Sunderland is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Sunderland (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), North East England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Sunderland is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Sunderland offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: United Kingdom (including Isle of Man, Channel Islands, and EU students with UK Settled Status)

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the following full-time courses:

    • BSc (Hons) Psychology

    • BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling

    • BSc (Hons) Clinical Psychology

    • BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:

    • Classified as a ‘Home’ student by the UK Government.

    • Commence first-year undergraduate study in autumn 2025.

    • Enrol in one of the eligible full-time psychology courses listed above.

    • Meet at least one of the widening participation priority awarding criteria:

      • Household income equal to or below £47,500 per annum (verified through SLC).

      • First-generation in the family to attend higher education.

      • Reside in a low-participation neighbourhood (POLAR4: Quantiles 1 or 2).

Offered Benefits

  • A one-time cash payment of £1,000 will be awarded in February 2026.

  • Payment is subject to satisfactory academic engagement and progression.

  • The amount is transferred via bank transfer to a UK bank account.
