The program is open for self-funded, international (non-EU) fee-paying applicants from India, Malaysia and Thailand who have an offer of a full-time one-year master course for the 2023/24 academic year.

University of Strathclyde – British Council GREAT Scholarships in Environmental Science and Climate Change for Master Founded in 1964, University of Strathclyde is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Glasgow (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Scotland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Strathclyde is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Strathclyde offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded for one year of MSc study in the areas of Environmental Science and Climate Change at the Faculty of Engineering.

  • MSc Sustainability and Environmental Studies
  • MSc Sustainable Engineering: Renewable Energy Systems and the Environment
  • MSc Sustainable Engineering: Offshore Renewable Energy
  • MSc Sustainable Engineering: Marine Technology
  • MSc Sustainable Engineering: Chemical Processing
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Applicants should be passport holders of India, Malaysia or Thailand.
  • Applicants should typically have a 2:1 (or equivalent) in their undergraduate degree

Offered Benefits

  • There are 3 scholarships available – one for India, one for Malaysia and one for Thailand.
  • The scholarship program offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing specific one-year postgraduate courses within the Faculty of Engineering at Strathclyde.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: To apply for the University of Strathclyde – British Council GREAT Scholarships (Environmental Science and Climate Change), applicants must complete an online application form via the link – Application Form 2023-24.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must submit all the following documents:
  • Certified copies of qualifications applicants have gained, e.g. degree certificate and transcripts
  • A copy of your passport
  • A copy of your sponsor letter/scholarship award
  • If the applicant’s qualifications are in a language other than English, provide official translations in addition to copies of the original documents.
  • Copies of any other documentation to support the application such as a CV, Personal Statement, Portfolio
  • Admission Requirements: Before starting an application, applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
  • Normally a first-class or second-class honours degree (or international equivalent) in engineering, earth sciences, environmental management, or a background in the chemical, physical, biological or mathematical sciences.
  • Lower degree classifications may be considered if there is strength elsewhere (for example, relevant work experience, excellent final project/dissertation, very strong academic letter of reference, and very strong application statement linking with career goals).
  • Applicants will need two supportive academic references and/or appropriate professional experience or achievements.
  • A minimum of a first or upper-second-class Honours degree from a UK institution (or overseas equivalent), and preferably a Masters-level qualification (or equivalent).
  • Language Requirement: If English is not the applicant’s first language, provide a suitable English language test certificate (if appropriate), for example, IELTS. Visit the English language requirements page for full details of the requirements in place before making an application.
