The University of St Andrews is pleased to announce the Gibson-Sykora Postgraduate Taught Scholarship (International) for entry in 2026. Established to support Polish students, this scholarship offers full tuition fee coverage for one year of postgraduate study. It is open to applicants with Polish nationality or domicile in Poland who hold Overseas fee status and demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

The scholarship is open to Polish nationals or those domiciled in Poland with Overseas fee status. Applicants must have applied for an eligible postgraduate taught or research master’s program at the University of St Andrews and demonstrate both academic excellence and financial need.

University of St Andrews Gibson-Sykora Postgraduate Taught Scholarships in UK for Master Founded in 1413, University of St Andrews is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium-sized town of St Andrews (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Scotland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of St Andrews is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 9,000-9,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of St Andrews offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Poland
    Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship is available for students enrolled in one-year taught Masters programmes (MLitt, MSc, MRes, MPP), one-year Masters research programmes (MSc(Res), MSt(Res)), or the first year of two-year Masters research programmes (MPhil, MFA) across eligible Schools and Departments at the University of St Andrews.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
  • Be a Polish national or domiciled in Poland and have Overseas fee status.

  • Have applied for an eligible postgraduate taught programme at the University of St Andrews.

  • Demonstrate financial need and academic merit.

  • Submit two references (one academic/professional and one personal).

  • Provide university transcripts and any additional documents required for special categories (e.g., sport or music excellence).

Offered Benefits

  • Full tuition fees for one academic year.

  • If tuition fees are already covered by another source, the award may be converted to a maintenance grant.

Application Process

  • Apply for your chosen course at the University St Andrews:  Masters (MSc, MLitt, MRes, MPP) or  Postgraduate research (MSc(Res), MSt(Res), MPhil, MFA). Your course should meet the eligibility criteria for this scholarship (see above). After submitting your course application, you must allow up to three working days to receive login details for the My Application portal.
  • When you have received your login details, apply for the scholarship by logging into  My Application, follow the links to Scholarships and Funding and then search for St Leonard’s Masters Scholarship (International) in the Scholarships and funding catalogue.
  • Application Opens: 17 September 2025

  • Application Closes: 4 February 2026
