The Wounded Warriors Doctoral Scholarship Fund was established to fund an annual fellowship to a PhD-level student enrolled in any eligible graduate program in a CIMVHR partner university, supervised by a recognized CIMVHR researcher, with a demonstrated research interest in military, Veteran and family health in Canada. Preference will be given to reservists in terms of the research being done and if the candidate is a serving reservist themselves. Funding will be provided in years three and four of the doctoral program, after the comprehensive examinations have been passed and when the students are conducting the research for their dissertation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be registered with a Canadian university, as a full-time doctoral student, or as a student in a combined MA/PhD, fast track program, having completed comprehensive examination(s) or equivalent.
  • Be doing research that considers the unique context of military service over the life course and that is of potential importance to improving the physical, mental health, or well-being of military, Veteran or other relevant populations and their families.
  • Have received ethics clearance from for their research from their respective university and/or the Social Science Research Review Board ( SSRRB), if applicable.

Offered Benefits

One scholarship awarded annually to a PhD candidate who demonstrates excellence in their proposed research while exhibiting significant potential for a high impact career in a military, Veteran and family health research.

$15,000 awarded one-time to a postgraduate student to fund their degree and research related to military, Veterans and public service personnel mental health.
