The Dr. Ken Probert Memorial Scholarship was established through generous donations to the University of Regina 2011 Matching Gift Program in honour of the late Dr. Ken Probert. Dr. Probert is remembered by his family, friends and colleagues for his love of literature and academia, his pure enjoyment of communal gatherings and his passion for teaching, for music and the arts. He joined the Faculty of Arts at the University of Regina in 1982 and pursued a tenured career in the Department of English until his retirement in 2010. He gave generously of his time and insight to both his students and colleagues.

University of Regina Dr. Ken Probert Memorial Scholarship 2025 for Master Established in 1911, University of Regina is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Regina (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Saskatchewan. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Saskatchewan, University of Regina (U of R) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Regina (U of R) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 108 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 80-90% making this Canadian higher education organization a least selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarship will be awarded to a University of Regina graduate student who meets the following criteria:

  • Accepted as a fully qualified graduate student and in good standing;
  • Entering (1st, 2nd or 3rd semester) a Master's degree program in English;
  • Registered full-time during the semester the scholarship is awarded (minimum of six credit hours or as defined in the graduate calendar); and
  • Minimum cumulative grade average (CGA) of 80% or equivalent to it.
