The Research Chair on Aging at Laval University invites applications for the annual Research Excellence Scholarships to support students conducting research in clinical, epidemiological, or evaluative disciplines related to aging.

University of Laval Research Excellence Scholarship on Aging 2025 Established in 1852, Université Laval (Laval University) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Quebec City (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Quebec. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur, Québec (Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Quebec), Université Laval (UL) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 40,000-44,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Université Laval (UL) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 167 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in an eligible master’s or doctoral program at Laval University

  • Conduct research related to aging

  • Be supervised by (or have a co-supervisor who is) a recognized researcher affiliated with:

    • Center of Excellence on Aging of Quebec (CEVQ), or

    • Institute on Aging and Social Participation of Seniors (IVPSA)

  • Not already hold a nominative scholarship exceeding $10,000 (Master’s) or $15,000 (Doctorate)

Offered Benefits

  • 2 scholarships of $10,000 for Master’s students

  • 1 scholarship of $15,000 for Doctoral students
