University of Guelph International Masters Scholarship (Thesis Based) 2026 Established in 1964, University of Guelph is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Guelph (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Ontario. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Ridgetown, Kemptville. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, University of Guelph (U of G) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Guelph (U of G) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 55 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 70-80% making this Canadian higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

International master students admitted to a full-time program with a minimum 70% (B-) admission average, and who are billed at international tuition rates, are eligible subject to the criteria listed below.

  • Must be registered full-time in a thesis-based master’s program.
  • Entering students and in-course students who are in semesters 1-5 are eligible for up to 2 years of funding up to their 6th registered semester,(Students past semester 6 are not eligible).
  • Have completed a 4-year honours undergraduate degree at the University of Guelph.
  • Students must have maintained registration at the University of Guelph for each semester of the 4-year honours (20.0 credit) undergraduate degree. Students who completed part of their degree requirements at another institution and then transferred to the University of Guelph are not eligible. Transfer credits granted at the time of admission for High School level studies (e.g. GCE A Levels, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate) are permitted. 3-year general undergraduate degrees are not eligible. The DVM program is considered an undergraduate program.
  • Have a minimum B- admission average.
  • Be paying international tuition and fee rates.
  • Must remain registered full-time and maintain satisfactory progress for the duration of the scholarship.
  • Students who transfer from a master’s program to a doctoral program will no longer be eligible, starting in the semester they are registered in the doctoral program.
  • International students who become permanent residents or Canadian citizens will no longer be eligible.
  • Not tenable with the International Doctoral Tuition Scholarship (IDTS), International Masters Tuition Scholarship -  Course Based (IMTS-C), or any other third-party funding (e.g., workplace funding, scholarships from a home government).

$10,000 per year for up to two years

Application Process

  • No application required. Students who meet all eligibility criteria will receive the scholarship automatically.
