The University of Glasgow is providing Urban Retrofit PhD Scholarship for motivated and talented students. The successful candidate will be strongly encouraged to take ownership of the project and develop it to suit their skills and interests.

To be eligible, applicants will have a good master’s degree (or overseas equivalent) in urban planning, geography or a related discipline. University of Glasgow Urban Retrofit PhD Scholarship in UK Established in 1451, University of Glasgow is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Glasgow (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Scotland.   • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in Urban Studies PhD.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet all the following criteria:
  • Have a good Master’s degree (or overseas equivalent) in urban planning, geography, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in urban planning and the topic under investigation.
  • Be able to study full-time.
  • Meet the entry requirements for the Urban Studies PhD program at the University of Glasgow.

Offered Benefits

The funding includes:

  • An annual stipend at the UKRI rate.
  • Fees at the standard home rate or International rate.
  • Access to a Research Training Support Grant, up to £940 per year.

Application Process

Applicants must apply via the Scholarships Application Portal. The application should include:

  • URBAN RETROFIT PhD Scholarship application form (in Word format).
  • Academic transcripts (all relevant undergraduate and Master’s level degree transcripts and translations, if not originally in English).
  • Contact details for two referees (preferably including an academic familiar with the applicant’s work within the last 5 years).
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV).

Selection Process

Applications will be assessed by the project team. Shortlisted applicants may be invited for an interview. All scholarship awards are subject to candidates successfully securing admission to a PhD program in the School of Social and Political Sciences. Successful applicants will be invited to apply for admission to the relevant PhD program after selection for funding.
