The University of Glasgow African Excellence Award aims to support high achieving students from across Africa in their journey to become Future World Changers.  We are looking for students who wish to undertake Masters level study (postgraduate diploma or certificate programmes are not eligible for this scholarship), to further develop their knowledge and skills, in order to positively contribute to their community in the future.

University of Glasgow African Excellence Scholarship 2026 for Master Established in 1451, University of Glasgow is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Glasgow (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Scotland. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Dumfries, Singapore. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Glasgow (UofG) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 25,000-29,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Glasgow (UofG) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 568 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • To be eligible, applicant must: 

    • Demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to a UK 1st?Class Honours; 
    • Hold an offer of a place for a postgraduate taught one year Masters programme for September 2026 intake (offer is not needed to apply but applicants will require an offer to be considered for interview, and should take programme application timelines into consideration as outlined on programme webpages); 
    • Have International fee status; 
    • Be domiciled in Africa and hold a passport from one of the eligible countries;
    • Be able to demonstrate a clear career and/or development plan that will be supported by Masters level study (via application form); 
    • as an international student studying at the university, recipients of this scholarship will be required to meet the UKVI living costs/financial requirement. More information on this can be found linked  here.
