University of Exeter 2025 GREAT Scholarships Program for Nigerian Students for Master


In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, the University of Exeter is offering five £10,000 scholarships to students from Bangladesh, Ghana, Nigeria and Turkey applying for an eligible one-year postgraduate taught (Masters) programme for September 2025 entry. 

The GREAT Scholarships programme, launched by the British Council together with selected UK universities, supports international postgraduate students from 18 countries to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

University of Exeter 2025 GREAT Scholarships Program for Nigerian Students for Master Established in 1955, University of Exeter is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Exeter (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South West England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Exeter is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Exeter offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 64 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for one of these scholarships at the University of Exeter, you must:

  • Be a citizen and resident of Bangladesh, Ghana, Nigeria or Turkey (and therefore classed as an International student for fees purposes)
  • Have an undergraduate degree that will enable entry to a postgraduate programme at the University of Exeter
  • Be motivated and academically able to follow and benefit from a UK postgraduate taught course
  • Be active in the field with work experience or with a proven interest in the proposed subject area
  • Meet the English language requirement and other academic requirements for your chosen postgraduate programme
  • Be willing to embody the UK Higher Education experience, by attending lectures and tutorials and engaging with extra-curricular activities, and act as an ambassador for UK Higher Education, by promoting the value of studying at a UK HEI
  • Be willing to establish an engagement with the UK as a scholar, through personal and academic fulfilment
  • Represent the high standards of the GREAT brand by becoming an advocate for scholarships
  • Be willing to attend events or participate in other activities organised by Study UK and the British Council for all UK-based GREAT scholars, including social media activities to discuss experiences and capture perceptions of studying in the UK
  • Be willing to demonstrate future contribution to capacity-building and socio-economic advancement through the benefits achieved after graduating from UK higher education
  • Be willing to maintain contact with the British Council and act as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships, by sharing experiences of studying in the UK with future GREAT scholars
  • As an alumnus of the GREAT Scholarships, be willing, occasionally, to speak to potential candidates about your own experience of studying in the UK.

  • You can apply for this scholarship if you already hold an offer for an eligible Masters programme at the University of Exeter, commencing in September 2025.
  • All one-year (12-month), full time, campus-based Postgraduate taught degrees (Masters) are eligible except the following:
