The Indigenous Careers Award, funded by the Government of Alberta, supports Indigenous students enrolled full-time in undergraduate or professional programs at the University of Calgary. It is aimed at promoting academic success and career development among Indigenous learners.

University of Calgary Indigenous Career Awards 2025-2026 Founded in 1966, University of Calgary is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Calgary (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Alberta. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Alberta, University of Calgary (UCalgary) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 25,000-29,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Calgary (UCalgary) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. This 53 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 10-20% making this Canadian higher education organization a most selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a Canadian Indigenous student

  • Must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident and an Alberta resident

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or professional program

  • Must be in 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of studies

  • Must be enrolled full-time (minimum 12.00 units over Fall and Winter)

  • Students with a documented permanent disability who meet course load requirements will also be considered

Offered Benefits

  • $4,000 for full-time enrollment in both Fall and Winter terms

  • $2,000 for full-time enrollment in Fall OR Winter term only

  • Variable number of awards available

  • Additional documents as may be required by the Registrar
