Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible, applicants must be living in Alberta while studying at an Alberta post-secondary institution. In addition, you must meet the eligibility criteria for the specific award:
- Open to students registered full-time in a thesis-based graduate degree program in the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Students must be living in Alberta.
- Open to master’s students who have completed no more than 13 months of full-time study in their master’s program at the time the award is paid.
- Open to doctoral students who have completed no more than 37 months of full-time study in their doctoral program at the time the award is paid.
- Open to students transferring from a master’s program to a doctoral program who have completed no more than 37 months of full-time study in their graduate program at the time the award is paid. Time in program will be determined by the start of the master’s program.
- Students can hold only one AGES in a given award year.
Offered Benefits
The scholarship offers an award amount ranging from $11,000 to $15,000.

Alberta Graduate Excellence Scholarship (AGES): This award is for Canadian/Permanent Residents. Contact your graduate program early (Engineering, History, Psychology, ect) for application information as it is up to programs how they manage their allocations of this award. Programs submit their nominees to FGS no later than June 30th each year for September awards.
