UNESCO and Nestlé launched the initiative “Because Youth Matter” to provide young people with the resources and the skills they need to develop and carry forward innovative solutions to achieve positive social impact in their communities.
The project will begin in Latin America with a call for applications across the region. The end-goal is to scale-up the partnership to global level in the future.
They are seeking young Latino leaders of initiatives with a social conscience in the following areas:
- Reduction of disparities, encouragement of diversity and social inclusion
- Sustainability and Climate Action
- Wellness and Mental Health
- The UNESCO-Nestlé relationship builds on the ten years that Nestlé has invested in the empowerment of youth through its Nestlé needs YOUth program.
- The initiative assists children in accessing apprenticeships, traineeships, and job opportunities with the aim of helping 10 million young people worldwide to access economic prospects by 2030.
- More than 5 million young people have benefited from it globally to far.
