The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is inviting applications for its Undergraduate Student Internship in Speech and Language Technologies (R0). This 3-month, part-time internship offers students hands-on experience in speech recognition, synthesis, and translation using cutting-edge HPC infrastructure.

Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or a related field and have programming skills in C, Java, Python, and MATLAB. They should demonstrate an interest in speech and language technologies, be capable of conducting literature reviews, and possess good communication and teamwork skills.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center – Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing facility and a key hub for high-performance computing (HPC) research in Europe. It hosts MareNostrum, one of the most powerful supercomputers in Europe, and combines advanced HPC services with cutting-edge research across multiple scientific fields, including life sciences, earth sciences, and engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from all countries are welcome.

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Internship offered in the area of speech and language technologies; applicants should be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree relevant to telecommunications engineering or related fields.

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related area.

    • Have programming skills in C, Java, Python, and MATLAB.

    • Be able to conduct scientific literature review and evaluation.

    • Have good command of English, Spanish, and Catalan.

    • Demonstrate strong interest in NLP and good communication and teamwork skills.

    • Curriculum analysis (40 points).

    • Interview phase with technical and administrative evaluation (60 points; minimum 30 required).
