The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is pleased to announce an exciting Undergraduate Internship Opportunity (R0) within its Life Sciences Department, through the Spanish National Bioinformatics Institute (INB) node. This internship is designed for motivated undergraduate students or recent graduates in bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields who are eager to gain hands-on experience in biomedical informatics and contribute to cutting-edge European research projects.

To be eligible for the internship at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, applicants must be undergraduate students or recent graduates in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field. They should have a strong interest in biomedical data infrastructures and European research projects.

The Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC-CNS) is Spain’s leading supercomputing facility and a prominent hub for high-performance computing (HPC) in Europe. Located in Barcelona, it is home to MareNostrum, one of Europe’s most powerful supercomputers. BSC conducts cutting-edge research across computer, life, earth, and engineering sciences, integrating HPC service provision with multidisciplinary scientific innovation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Open to all nationalities

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The internship will be awarded to students in the fields of bioinformatics, computer science, or related subjects

  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:

    • Be undergraduate students (or recent graduates) in bioinformatics, computer science, or a related field

    • Demonstrate interest in biomedical data infrastructures and European research projects

    • Be fluent in English (Spanish is a plus)

    • Possess strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
