UK Government 2025 Chevening Scholarship for Students Worldwide for Master

The UK Government annually offers 1500 international students the opportunity to pursue a fully-funded Masters degree in universities within the United Kingdom.

Chevening is one of the UK government’s international scholarship programmes. It is funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations, and offers awards to study in the UK for one year on a fully funded master’s degree course.

Successful Chevening candidates come from a diverse range of countries and backgrounds, but they all demonstrate the passion, vision and skills needed to shape a better world.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a citizen of a Chevening-eligible country or territory.
  • Return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years after your award has ended.
  • Have completed all components of an undergraduate degree that will enable you to gain entry onto a postgraduate programme at a UK university by the time you submit your application.
    • This is typically equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree in the UK but may be different depending on your course and university choice.
  • Have at least two years (equivalent to 2,800 hours) of work experience.
  • Apply to three different eligible UK university courses and have received an unconditional offer from one of these choices by the deadline listed on the application timeline.

You are not eligible to apply if you;

  • Hold British or dual British citizenship (unless you are a citizen of a British Overseas Territory or hold BN(O) and are applying from Hong Kong).
  • Hold refugee status in a non-Chevening eligible country. Applicants who are citizens of a Chevening-eligible country and who hold refugee status in a Chevening-eligible country are eligible for a scholarship.
  • Are an employee, a former employee, or relative* of an employee of His Majesty’s Government, or have been within the last two years from the opening of Chevening applications.
  • Employees, former employees, or relatives* of an employee of Chevening Partner organisations are eligible to apply, but if the employment took place within the last two years, you cannot receive a Chevening Partner Award from the organisation from which you work, previously worked, or are affiliated with through relatives.
  • Have previously studied in the UK with funding from a UK Government-funded scholarship.

Offered Benefits

The 2025 Chevening Scholarship Award is fully-funded, your award includes the following:

    • University tuition fees
    • A monthly stipend
    • Travel costs to and from the UK
    • An arrival allowance
    • A homeward departure allowance
    • The cost of one visa application
    • A travel grant to attend Chevening events in the UK

Application Process

  • Read the information we have provided on this webpage and ensure your eligibility
  • Before you apply for the Chevening Scholarship Award, ensure to apply to have applied to at least three (3) universities in the UK and accept an admission offer from at least one of them.
  • The deadline to receive and submit at least one unconditional UK university offer is 17:00 BST (UK time) on 11 July 2025.
  • You can then proceed to apply for the Chevening Scholarship Award by clicking on APPLY
  • Create an account, log in, and fill out the application form accordingly.
  • You will receive email updates about your application status at each step of the selection process. You can also check your status on the online application system. Log in using your registration details.
  • Once submitted, applications undergo an electronic sift against our eligibility criteria. Any applications deemed ineligible will be removed from the selection process.
  • If you make these errors in your application form, your application will be ineligible.
  • Please note that once your application has been submitted, it is not possible to change it retrospectively.
  • Successful applicants will be contacted and shortlisted for interview in February 2025.
