UCL IRDR Motorola Solutions Foundation Scholarship (UK/EU) for Master


One scholarship is available for students on the one year full time MSc Risk, Disaster and Resilience programme for the academic year 2017-2018. US$5,000 towards tuition fees for UK/EU students.

Scholarship applicants must ensure they have sufficient funds to pay the remaining fees in excess of the scholarship and to cover living costs. The scholarship must be used for the academic year 2017-2018 and it cannot be deferred. The successful applicants will be announced on 24th May 2017. Please note the names of the scholarship winners will be announced in the press.

Eligibility Criteria

The scholarships are open to public safety professionals or family members of fallen responders.

The Motorola Solutions Foundation considers first responders to include national and local law enforcement, professional and volunteer fire service personnel, emergency medical personnel and disaster response professionals.

Application Process

Please note students applying for this scholarship also need to apply for a place on the MSc through the UCL application process before the scholarship deadline. For details on the MSc Programme and how to apply to UCL please see: https://www.ucl.ac.uk/rdr/teaching/graduate.

The application should be completed on A4 size pages, with minimum margins of 2cm and written in Arial font size 11, comprising:

  • A one page CV, which should include information pertinent to the application. Please include details of your education and grades, any relevant work experience and any relevant publications or outputs.
  • A one page personal statement, which should include a summary of why you think that you should be considered for the scholarship and how you will benefit from receiving it.

The IRDR promotes students becoming leaders in knowledge exchange so that they can share their knowledge within their sectors and with stakeholders. Therefore, your personal statement should further include a statement of how you intend to use the degree in your future career.
