To encourage promising students from all over the world, the University College Dublin is organizing an exciting opportunity named as Iseult Honohan Doctoral International Scholarships.

This educational program will cover full fees and a living stipend of 17,000 euro per year for up to four years. All eligible applicants must have a minimum grade of 2.1 (GPA: 3.6) in a relevant master’s degree.

UCD Iseult Honohan Doctoral International Scholarships in Ireland for PhD Established in 1854, University College Dublin is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium-sized city of Dublin (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), County Dublin. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Department of Education and Skills, Ireland, University College Dublin (UCD) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 30,000-34,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University College Dublin (UCD) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. This 165 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 20-30% making this Irish higher education organization a very selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Students from all foreign countries can apply.
  • Eligible Course or Subjects: Applicants are eligible to undertake a PhD study in the following subjects:
  • PhD Politics and International Relations
  • PhD European Law and Governance(if via the SPIRe admission route)
  • PhD Quantitative and Computational Social Science(with a SPIRe supervisor)
  • Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the following/given criteria:
  • Applicants must have a minimum grade of 2.1 (GPA: 3.6) in a relevant Master’s degree.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: In order to apply for the grant, one must have to take admission in PhD degree at the university. The applicants must apply to UCD by downloading Application Form (fillable word doc).
  • Supporting Documents: The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Cover letter, which should include that you wish to be considered for the Honohan scholarship.
  • Thesis proposal (3-5 pages maximum)
  • Copies of all Academic Transcripts (Undergraduate and Postgraduate)
  • CV. or Resume (2 pages maximum)
  • Evidence of English language competence, where non-native English speaking applicants have NOT obtained previous university degrees from a university in an English-speaking country. For students affected by testing centre closures due to COVID-19, UCD has approved the use of the Duolingo English Test (DET) as a temporary measure. The overall result should be at least 110 with a minimum score of 100 in subjections. Applicants must provide a cert that complies with UCD Minimum English Language Requirements
  • Two academic references
  • Admission Requirements: For taking admission, students must have to check the entry requirements of their chosen program.
  • Language Requirement: If your education has not been conducted in the English language, you will be expected to demonstrate evidence of an adequate level of English proficiency. For more information, go through the English language requirements
