Are you a student who wants nothing more than a college education but unable to afford the cost? TheDream.US is delighted to offer two scholarships for highly motivated dreamers to help them pay for their college education.

The National award is open for high school or community college graduates, and the Opportunity award is available for students who live in targeted, locked-out states where they cannot get in-state tuition.

TheDream.US helps to highly motivated Dreamers graduate from college with career-ready degrees. It is the nation’s most abundant college access and success program in the United States. It has over 70 partner colleges as community colleges and 4-year universities.

Eligibility

  • Eligible Countries: Applicants from across the United States as well as students who came to the country before November 1, 2014, and meet the TheDream.US adopted new immigration eligibility criteria
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any high school or college courses and subjects
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet all the following criteria to be eligible:
  • Have significant unmet financial need
  • Are not and have not previously enrolled in a four-year institution or a four-year bachelor’s degree program

Students may be eligible for National Scholarship if they:

  • Have graduated or will graduate with a high school or GED diploma or a community college associate degree by the end of the 2020 Spring term
  • Have a current DACA or TPS authorization, or you meet TheDream.US immigration eligibility criteria
  • You must qualify for in-state tuition at one of the public Partner Colleges (or are admitted to one of private Partner Colleges). Arizona State University – you must qualify for the non-resident tuition rate
  • You are not eligible if you have attended or are currently attending a 4-year institution or a 4-year program
  • Are have not earned more than 21 credits in a community college (not counting credits earned in a pre-college or dual enrollment program in high school)
  • Intend to enroll full-time in an associate or bachelor’s degree program at a Partner College no later than the Spring term of 2020-21 academic year
  • Are eligible for in-state tuition at the Partner College you want to attend (not applicable if it is a private Partner College)
  • High School and GED Program Graduates: If you have graduated or will graduate from high school or a GED program by the end of the spring 2020 term this application may be for you!
  • If you have taken community college classes as you could afford them, you may still apply for High School Graduate Scholarship so long as you have not earned more than 21 college credits at a community college
  • Have graduated or will graduate from high school (have received or will make a high school equivalency diploma) by the end of the 2019-20 academic year
  • Graduated or will graduate with a GPA of 2.5 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Community College Graduates: If you have or will graduate from a community college by the end of the summer of 2020 and do not have the financial resources to complete your bachelor’s degree at a 4-year university, this Scholarship may be for you!
  • Have graduated or will graduate from an accredited community college or 2-year degree program by the end of the 2019-20 academic year
  • Graduated or will graduate with a community college GPA of 3.0 or better on a scale of 4.0

Students may be eligible for the Opportunity Scholarship if they:

  • Live in one of the locked-out states: Alaska, N. Carolina, S. Carolina, N. Dakota, S. Dakota, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, W. Virginia, and Wisconsin.
  • Live in and have graduated or will graduate from high school in a locked out-state by the end of the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Graduated or will graduate with a GPA of 2.8 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Have taken the SAT or ACT
  • Intend to relocate to and enroll full-time in a bachelor’s degree program at an Opportunity Partner College in the Fall term of the 2020-2021 academic year: Christian Brothers University, Delaware State University, Eastern Connecticut State University, and Trinity Washington University (Women’s College)
  • Came to the United States before reaching your 16th birthday

TheDream.US Scholarships Founded in 1889, Eastern Connecticut State University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the medium-sized town of Willimantic (population range of 10,000-49,999 inhabitants), Connecticut. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) is a medium-sized (uniRank enrollment range: 6,000-6,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 130 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. TheDream.US Immigration Eligibility Criteria:

You must have current DACA or TPS or certify that you meet the following immigration eligibility criteria and will apply for lawful presence or status as soon as you are legally able to do so:

  • Came to the United States before the age of 16
  • Have continuously resided in the United States since November 1, 2014, up to the present time and have had no lawful status
  • Are currently in high school or have graduated from a United States high school or obtained a general education development (GED) certificate from the United States Program
  • Have not been convicted of a felony, significant misdemeanor, or three or more other misdemeanors in the categories which would have disqualified you for DACA, and do not otherwise pose a threat to national security or public safety
  • Have a current DACA or TPS authorization or can certify that you meet the DACA immigration eligibility criteria

Offered Benefits

TheDream.US opportunities are available for highly motivated DREAMers. Winning candidates can renew the Award each year so long as they meet the continuing eligibility criteria.

  • The National Award will cover your tuition and fees at one of our Partner Colleges: up to a maximum of $14,500 for an associate degree and $29,000 for a bachelor’s degree.
  • The Opportunity Award will cover your tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals at one of our Partner Colleges up to a maximum of $80,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

Application Process

To participate in one of both TheDream.US Scholarships, applicants are required to submit an online application form as the following: National Scholarship and Opportunity Scholarship.

  • Supporting Documents: Candidates must provide a copy of your official or unofficial high school transcript, SAT/ACT test scores, and an essay of 750 words max.
  • Entry Requirements: Students must have a GPA of 2.8 – 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must have excellent English language proficiency (writing, speaking, reading)
