The Universiti Brunei Darussalam introduced the Graduate Research Scholarship Programme in August 2010 to facilitate and promote research degrees in order to develop the University into a research-intensive university, and also to expand and enhance the quality of graduate programmes and graduates.
Graduate Studies with Graduate Research scholarships can be applied along with programme application. The application form available here, and are also available at the address stated below.
For research degree applications, the applicant must submit a proposal for research together with the application. The research proposal is normally expected to include the following topics: proposed title; rationale; aims and methodology; literature review; preliminary bibliography; provisional timetable; provisional table of contents, and an indication of any special requirements for the study.
There are two intakes in every academic year; Semester I (in August) and the other in Semester II (in January). The application deadlines are normally indicated in the website.

Eligibility Criteria
It is open to candidates on a competitive basis. To be eligible, a candidate must be:
- Below 40 years old;
- Enroll full-time in a graduate degree by research (PhD); and
- Demonstrate a good academic track record.
