This study program is available to international and domestic students in any discipline. When STIAS considers a fellowship invitation, no restriction is placed on the country of origin, discipline or academic affiliation.
Established in 1999, STIAS is the first institute of its kind in Africa and is modeled on successful international examples of institutes of advanced study. STIAS provides a uniquely supportive space for thinking, reading, debating and writing.

Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in any Undergraduate, Graduate, Postgraduate, and Research degree subjects offered by the Institute.
Admissible Criteria: International and Domestic students in any discipline are eligible to apply.

- Supporting Documents: Applicants will need to attach comprehensive Curriculum Vitae, A list of publications, One or two recent articles typical of the applicant’s research work, or related to the proposed project, A project title and description (2-4 pages) of the planned work and expected outcomes, A brief summary/ introductory text (maximum 200 words) of the proposed project accessible to readers from outside the candidate’s specific discipline, A brief indication of how the applicant became aware of the STIAS program.
- Language Requirements: Depending on the student’s educational background and country of origin, they may need to provide evidence of their English proficiency to be able to study here.
