If you want to get a higher education, then the Ashesi University is proudly announcing its The Jim Ovia Foundation Leaders Scholarship. The grant is a partnership between the Jim Ovia Foundation, and the Africa-America Institute, to educate young Africans to lead the continent.

The study award is open for African country select high achieving students, from under resourced backgrounds, a full education that will provide them with the necessary skills for a dynamic and innovation-driven career.

The Jim Ovia Foundation Leaders Scholarship at Ashesi University, Ghana Founded in 2002, Ashesi University is a non-profit private higher education institution located in the rural setting of the village of Berekuso (population range of under 2,500 inhabitants), Eastern Region. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the National Accreditation Board, Ghana (National Accreditation Board, Ghana), Ashesi University (AU) is a very small (uniRank enrollment range: 500-999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Ashesi University (AU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 17 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 10-20% making this Ghanaian higher education organization a most selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Countries: West African country students are eligible to apply.
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded to study in any MA, PhD Degree offered by the University.
Admissible Criteria: Students must also meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must be a citizen of an African country, residing in Africa
  • Exhibit strong academic record and penchant for high-achievement
  • Candidates must be demonstrate a Financial Need
  • Present an active record of youth leadership within his/her community

  • Benefit: The Jim Ovia Foundation Leaders support will provide tuition, room and board for undergraduate study at Ashesi.
