This scholarship is available only for Canadian Citizen/Permanent Resident/Protected Pers. Their purpose is to encourage deserving secondary school students to pursue a university education.

The Honderich Bursary at York University in Canada Founded in 1959, York University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Toronto (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Ontario. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario, York University (YU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: 40,000-44,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. York University (YU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

Eligible Countries: Domestic Students can apply for this application .
Acceptable Course or Subjects: The sponsorship will be awarded in any degree subject offered by the university.
Admissible Criteria:

  • Their purpose is to encourage deserving secondary school students to pursue a university education.
  • A student in their penultimate year at James Cardinal McGuigan Secondary School, C.W. Jefferys Secondary School, Emery Collegiate Institute and Westview Centennial Secondary School will be chosen by the schools annually.
  • The award is renewable for an additional three years.
  • Students are guaranteed a summer job at the Toronto Star at the end of their first year.

  • How to Apply:To apply, submit The grants and bursaries application available through http://www.yorku.ca/myfile and contact your high school guidance office for the in-school application form.
  • Supporting Documents:As part of the application, you need to provide all academic transcripts at the university.
  • Language Requirements: Applicants from outside the home country will often need to meet specific English language/other language requirements in order to be able to study there.
  • Benefits: Bursaries are based on financial need. Therefore, students with financial need are encouraged to apply.
