Tess Embling Memorial Scholarship at University of Waikato, New Zealand Established in 1964, University of Waikato is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Hamilton (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), Waikato. This institution has also branch campuses in the following location(s): Tauranga. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministry for Tertiary Education, Skills and Employment, New Zealand, University of Waikato (UoW) is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Waikato (UoW) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 55 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 60-70% making this New Zealand higher education organization a somewhat selective institution. International applicants are eligible to apply for enrollment.

Offered Benefits

Each successful scholar will receive the amount up to $1,500 and will be paid directly to the student as a lump sum cash payment.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: If you want to apply for the award, you have to register in the Postgraduate taught and research at the university. After taking admission, applicants can access the online application form for the award.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants have to submit a one-page personal statement, a brief CV (of no more than two pages in length) and two academic references.
  • Admission Requirements: For taking admission at Waikato, applicants are advised to check the entry requirements of the university.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants have to full the following requirements:
  • an Academic IELTS overall score of 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in the Writing band)
  • an iBT (Internet Based TOEFL) minimum score of 46 with a writing score of 14,
  • B grade or better at Level 6 inthe Certificate of Attainment in Academic English
  • PTE Academic overall score of 49 and no less than 38 for Writing
