The Loyola Institute, Trinity College Dublin, is delighted to award a scholarship (fees plus stipend) to exceptional students who are passionate about studying a degree program at the Institution.

Both full-time and part-time applicants to the MPhil in Christian will be eligible. In the case of students doing the MPhil over two years the award will be split with 50% paid in the first year and 50% in the second year (should a student not continue into the second year no award will be payable).

Eligibility Criteria

  •  Women who are nationals of an African country and are currently living in Africa.
  • Members of religious orders are welcome. Please note this scholarship is not open to members of an international congregation.
  • Women who will use this M.Phil. to contribute to Church and Society in Africa.
  • Scholarship applicants must have been accepted onto the M.Phil.  programme.
  • Applicant to take up the scholarship in the academic year 2023/24

  • Recipients must reside in sufficient proximity to Trinity College Dublin as to be able to share fully and regularly in the life, work, and events of the Loyola Institute.

Please note: The scholarship will be dependent on the student getting a visa to study in Ireland for the year.In addition, one must separately submit an application for the M.Phil. in Christian Theology (M.Phil., Diploma, Certificate), using the central Trinity College application system. 

Required Documents:

  • Academic references (two)
  • A letter (maximum 600 words) setting out why you would like to do the M.Phil. in Christian Theology and how you will use this M.Phil to make a contribution to Church and Society in Africa.
  • Note that the selection procedure may include interviews. These can take place over Skype. An interview via place by Skype/phone for shortlisted candidates may be requested.
