Sydney Global Mobility Joint PhD Travel Scholarships in Australia Established in 1989, Western Sydney University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban setting of the large town of Penrith (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), New South Wales. Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Domestic and international students are eligible to apply.
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded in any discipline offered by the university.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, the applicants must meet all the given criteria:
  • Be a domestic or international student
  • Be enrolled in a joint PhD program at the University of Sydney, where the University of Sydney is the your home institution
  • Be enrolled at one of the University of Sydney’s active international partners as the host institution1
  • Have a fully executed individual Student Agreement (as defined in the Dual and Joint Degree Policy  2019)
  • Have completed their annual progress evaluation and have received a ‘meets/exceeds’ at your most recent progress review
  • only apply to Sydney Global Mobility for this scholarship once the offshore component of your Joint PhD Program has been confirmed
  • Not have previously received this scholarship
  • Not be under examination are not eligible.

Offered Benefits

The University of Sydney will provide a one-off payment of $AUD 5000 for one year.

Application Process

  • How to Apply: The students must apply for admission via the  university portal. Students who want to apply for a scholarship must submit a  scholarship application form.
  • Supporting Documents: Applicants must provide the following supporting documents:
  • Scholarship documentation
  • English language results
  • Academic transcripts
  • Marriage/change of name certificate/identification
  • Degree certificates
  • Admission Requirements: The students are required to present the  admission requirements:
  • Applicants must hold at least an Honours degree (First Class or Second Class Upper) or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
  • Must have an unconditional offer for full-time PhD or Master’s by Research program in Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney, with intent to transfer to PhD after 1st annual progress evaluation.
  • Language Requirement: Applicants must fulfill the following language requirements:

  • IELTS – 6.5
