The Swedish Women’s Educational Association (SWEA) is offering the Agneta and Gunnar Nilsson Scholarship to graduate students keen on pursuing their higher studies in intercultural relations. The scholarship will be awarded for the academic year 2023-2024.

The scholarship has been established especially for Swedish or Swedish-speaking women who undertake master’s studies in intercultural relations in a Swedish or international institute. The applicants must have completed their undergraduate studies at a university or college in Sweden. The scholarship is worth USD 10,000 and is awarded at SWEA International’s annual meeting.

Nice opportunity for students in SwedenThe Swedish Women’s Educational Association referred to as SWEA but officially designated SWEA International, Inc., is a global non-profit organization. It is a network of over 6,000 Swedish-speaking women in more than 70 chapters in over 30 countries. The organization was founded in Los Angeles in 1979 by Agneta Nilsson.

Eligibility Criteria

  • How to Apply:  First, the students must secure admission by applying through their respective university’s application procedures. Then, for the scholarship, they must submit a separate  scholarship application form . 
  • Supporting Documents:  The students are required to present the following documents to the university:
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Certificate of completion of basic education
  • Short life description (max one page)
  • Description of concrete plans for the intercultural studies and how the scholarship will be used (when, where, and how)
  • Application certificate and/or invitation letter or equivalent
  • Brief and concrete description of other funding of the studies
  • References from two reference persons
  • Admission Requirements:  The applicants must meet the entry and academic requirements of the university they want to join. 
  • Language Requirement:  The students are required to prove their English language proficiency by providing results of IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or any other accepted language tests.

The winners of the Intercultural Scholarship can expect to receive an amount of approximately USD 10,000 at the annual Sweden dinner by the Swedish Women’s Educational Association (SWEA).
