Stanford University is excited to announce that applications for the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) are now open! This fully funded eight-week program offers undergraduate students a unique opportunity to engage in research while receiving a stipend, housing, and meals.
Eligibility for the program requires applicants to be at least 18 years old and currently enrolled full-time in an accredited college or university. U.S. citizens, permanent residents, undocumented and DACA mented students, as well as asylum seekers and refugees, are eligible to apply. International students studying in the U.S. on an F-1 visa must be first-generation and/or from low socioeconomic backgrounds.Stanford University is a globally renowned institution known for its excellence in research, innovation, and academic programs. SURF provides a $5,500 stipend, housing, meal plan, travel stipend, and numerous academic and professional development activities. Fellows participate in research projects, a coding program, industry visits, excursions, and a research symposium. The program fosters a cohort dedicated to increasing diversity and advancing scientific research.
Application Process
Applications open on November 1, 2024, and close on February 1, 2025. Students may apply through either the Leadership Alliance’s SR-EIP portal or the Stanford SURF SlideRoom portal. A complete application includes a resume, academic transcript, statement of purpose, two letters of recommendation, and an optional personal history statement.
