Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) was established in 1982, and the first Sultan Qaboos University students were enrolled in 1986. The University commenced with five colleges namely: Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, Education and Science. Furthermore, the College of Arts was established in 1987, following the College of Commerce and Economics which was developed in 1993. The College of Law joined the University in 2006, and finally the College of Nursing was established in 2008.
GCC Students
SQU offers (4) seats every academic year for each Gulf country, one of these seats is allocated to the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the remaining (3) seats are distributed to the other colleges of the University and applications are accepted by nominations from the embassies of the countries in the Sultanate. , provided that the student satisfies SQU admission requirements. SQU offers (15) seats every academic year and applications are submitted to the Ministry of Higher Education. These seats are available in all colleges except the college of Medicine and Health Sciences and (2) seats only in college of Engineering , provided that the student satisfies SQU admission requirements.
Faculty and Staff Children
SQU contributes in educating (30) candidates from non-Omani faculty holding the title of Assistant Professor and higher and medical staff grade (T4) and higher and occupants of the special schedule and the teaching faculty at the Language Centre, in all colleges except the College of Medicine and Health Sciences and (2) seats only in college of Engineering , provided that the student satisfies SQU admission requirements.
Fees must be paid at the start of each semester (based on the rules and regulations)
