Exciting scholarship opportunities are available for high-achieving PhD candidates to undertake research within the Nursing Research Institute (NRI) at the Australian Catholic University (ACU). The NRI is a joint initiative between St Vincent’s Health Australia Sydney (SVHA Syd) and the ACU and undertakes a range of multidisciplinary research focused on improving the uptake of evidence into practice and improving patient care and outcomes.
The work component of this PhD will comprise of a series of sub-studies which relate to and compliment the ongoing inter-state T3 Trial: Triage, Treatment and Transfer of patients with stroke in Emergency Departments (ED). More specifically, the aim of the PhD research will be to identify contextual factors associated with the successful uptake of three clinical care protocols to manage fever, hyperglycaemia and swallowing (the FeSS protocols) implemented as part of the T3 trial in ED.
Full time scholars will be based full-time at the NRI at St Vincent’s Hospital in Sydney for the duration of the 3-year scholarship, dependent on satisfactory annual progress reviews. Appointments must commence within six months of receipt of formal letter of offer, unless otherwise approved.
Living allowance of $31,766 pa (tax free stipend) for 3 years, subject to satisfactory progress.
