The Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarship Programme (SYGL) is dedicated to commemorating the legacy of Professor Stephen Young, who served as the former Head of the Department of Marketing and was a mentor to Dr. Charles Huang during his PhD studies. In memory of Professor Young, the Charles Huang Foundation has generously provided funding to award up to five scholarships annually. These scholarships are intended for outstanding scholars pursuing the Strathclyde MBA on a full-time basis in Glasgow, beginning in September 2024.

The SYGL Scholarship seeks to identify and support outstanding candidates who demonstrate exceptional academic merit and embody the values outlined in our criteria guidelines. We aim to promote diversity and inclusivity by encouraging applications from underrepresented groups, including but not limited to Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, women, LGBT+ individuals, disabled candidates, and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds.Strathclyde Business School (SBS) is a leading institution known for its excellence in business education and research. Stephen Young Global Leaders’ Scholarships Programme in UK Founded in 1964, University of Strathclyde is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the medium-sized city of Glasgow (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Scotland. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Strathclyde is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 20,000-24,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Strathclyde offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Eligibility Criteria

  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: Any subject offered by the university
  • Admissible Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Meet the admissions criteria for the Strathclyde full-time MBA programme
  • Hold a current offer for the MBA programme for the chosen year of study and accept this offer before applying for the scholarship
  • Demonstrate exceptional academic merit (e.g., first-class undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification)
  • Be self-funded without access to other sources of funding such as corporate sponsorship or alternative scholarships
  • Short-listed candidates will be required to attend a formal interview (either in person or virtually).
