State scholarships for EU, EEA, and Switzerland graduate students in philosophy taught in English at University of Sofia

Eligibility Criteria

According to the Bulgarian Law, besides the Bulgarian citizens, nationals of EU, EEA, and Switzerland are eligible to apply. Furthermore, citizens of third countries who have permanent residence status in Bulgaria meet the eligibility criteria too.

Offered Benefits

MA level--75% tuition waiver; 50 % discount in Univeristy of Sofia dormitory. PhD level--full tuition waiver; €230 monthly stipend.

The scholarship provides 75% tuition waiver and allows master’s students to pay tuition as low as €130 per semester. The other benefit consists in a discount at the University of Sofia dorms reducing the expenses to less than € 50 a moth including heating and water; a discount on public transportation is available as well. Doctoral students in residence receive full tuition waiver and a €230 monthly stipend over 36 months plus two €520 grants provided the dissertation is defended in time; their dissertation defense fee of €1,000 is also covered by the state. Extramurlal/distance learning doctoral students receive full tuition waiver and their dissertation defense fee of €1,000 is covered by the state. The other benefit for all PhD students consists in a discount at the University of Sofia dorms reducing the expenses to less than € 50 a moth including heating and water.
