Standard Bank 2023-2024 Africa Chairman’s Scholarship - Oxford University for Master


The scholarships have been funded through the support of the Standard Bank of South Africa. Standard Bank is committed to enable and empower scholars to become effective leaders in Africa.

The Standard Bank Africa Chairman scholarship is awarded to three outstanding African students wishing to undertake a 1 year Masters programme at the University of Oxford.

You must be applying to start any full-time, one-year taught master’s course within the Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences, Social Sciences, or Humanities Divisions.

Standard Bank 2023-2024 Africa Chairman’s Scholarship - Oxford University for Master Founded in 1096, University of Oxford is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large town of Oxford (population range of 50,000-249,999 inhabitants), South East England. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Privy Council, University of Oxford is a large (uniRank enrollment range: 25,000-29,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. University of Oxford offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees in several areas of study. This 923 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students' past academic record and grades. The admission rate range is 20-30% making this UK higher education organization a very selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

You will be considered automatically for this scholarships if:

  • You are applying to start a new graduate course;
  • You submit your course application by the relevant January admissions deadline;
  • You are subsequently offered a place after consideration of applications received by the deadline;
  • Your application is not placed on a waiting list or held back after the January admissions deadline to be re-evaluated against applications received by the March admissions deadline.

Offered Benefits

The scholarship covers course fees and a grant for living costs. Awards are made for the full duration of your fee liability for the agreed course.

There is no separate application process for this Africa scholarship: to be considered, submit your application for graduate study by the relevant January deadline depending on your course). Selection is expected to take place by the end of July 2023.
