The objective of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) Canada Graduate Research Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies.

SSHRC Canada Graduate Research Scholarship Master``s 2025 at Concordia University Founded in 1974, Concordia University is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the urban setting of the large city of Montréal (population range of 1,000,000-5,000,000 inhabitants), Quebec. Officially accredited and/or recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur, Québec (Ministry of Education and Higher Education, Quebec), Concordia University (CU) is a very large (uniRank enrollment range: over-45,000 students) coeducational higher education institution. Concordia University (CU) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as pre-bachelor degrees (i.e. certificates, diplomas, associate or foundation degrees), bachelor degrees, master degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. This 45 years old higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on students' past academic record and grades. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment.

Eligibility Criteria

  • You must be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada or a Protected Person.
  • You must be enrolled in, or intend to apply, for full-time admission at a Canadian university in a program that has a significant research component. You can apply before starting the program.
  • As of December 31 of the application year, you should have completed not more than 12 months of full-time studies in the program in which you are requesting funding.
  • You should have a first-class average, GPA 3.70 or A-, in the last two years of study (full-time equivalent).

Offered Benefits

$27,000 for one year (award value increased as of Fall 2024).

To apply to the CGS M program, you must complete and submit an electronic application to the  Research Portal.
