Deakin University is pleased to announce the Specsavers Optometry Rural Placement Scholarship for Trimester 3, 2025. This scholarship supports Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry (D302) students undertaking a rural placement with Specsavers who are experiencing financial hardship.

To be eligible, applicants must be domestic students enrolled in the Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry (D302) at Deakin University and undertaking a rural placement with Specsavers in Trimester 3, 2025. They must also demonstrate financial hardship through a Centrelink benefit or by meeting the university’s income threshold.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Eligible Countries: Australia (Domestic students only)
  • Acceptable Course or Subjects: The scholarship will be awarded to students enrolled in the Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry (D302) program at Deakin University, undertaking a rural placement with Specsavers in Trimester 3, 2025.
  • Admissible Criteria: To be eligible, applicants must:
    • Be a domestic student.
    • Be enrolled in the Bachelor of Vision Science/Master of Optometry (D302) and undertaking a rural placement with Specsavers in Trimester 3, 2025.
    • Demonstrate financial hardship through receipt of a Centrelink benefit or show a personal or family taxable income below the university-determined threshold.
    • Submit all required supporting documents by the application closing date.

Application Process

Applicants must register and log in to Deakin’s Scholarship Application Portal, then select ‘Undergraduate Scholarship Application Tri 3 2025’ or ‘Postgraduate Scholarship Application Tri 3 2025’.
Eligible applications will automatically be considered for this and other available scholarships.

Applicants must also provide:
• An introduction statement outlining their study goals and the importance of receiving the scholarship.
• A final statement describing their placement experience.
