The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the Agency of the European Union responsible for the risk assessment regarding food and feed safety in Europe, offers the opportunity of undertaking a paid traineeship as well as an unpaid short-term study visit, depending on your motivation and objectives.

What is the work like?

The content of your short-term study visit depends on the Unit/Team you are assigned to. You may do your research in the field of Animal and Plant Health, Food Ingredients, Pesticides, GMO, Emerging Risks, Nutrition, Methodological support etc.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality: We welcome applications from nationals of EU Member States, including Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland and of candidates’ countries benefiting from a pre-accession strategy. A limited number of nationals of non-Member States are also accepted according to available resources and in accordance with the operational priorities of EFSA.

English: An important eligibility criterion is a good knowledge of English (minimum level: B2 according to CEFR).

Degree:

  • STSV: you should be a PhD researcher, a young university graduate or a University student.

Offered Benefits

STSV: this programme is unpaid; EFSA suggests you to check with your University about the possibility to obtain a fellowship for funding your research or project.
